The ruins at Ancient Thera provide archaeologists with incredible insight into how people lived during the Bronze Age in the Mediterranean.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Caldera boat tour for a few hours. This was an amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with the majestic beauty of Santorini. We sailed around the island for about two hours, taking in all of its grandeur from sea level. I couldn't believe my eyes as we passed by some of the most picturesque sites that this stunning island has to offer.

The highest point on the tour was a stop at Nea Kameni, an active volcano located in the middle of caldera waters. It was awe-inspiring to be able to swim in its warm thermal springs.

The best part however were the breathtaking views during sunset - something that words can't quite describe. All along our journey we saw many striking traditional villages and houses built right into rocks; they simply looked mesmerizing.

Amoudi Bay is situated at the very bottom of the island, with a steep pathway leading to it from Oia. The view from the top is breathtaking, looking down at the cluster of white washed buildings surrounding the crystal-clear waters below.

When you reach Amoudi Bay, you will find a range of traditional Greek tavernas serving local delicacies such as grilled octopus and moussaka. In addition, there are plenty of boats docked around the bay available for hire if you wish to explore further out into the Aegean Sea.

The sand on Amoudi Bay stretches along for hundreds of meters and it's almost always empty except for those keen enough to make their way down first thing in the morning or early evening when its cooler.
