What’s the backstory
Popping up in 2018 amidst Athens's rich historical panorama, the Grand Hyatt Athens introduced a blend of modern luxury and traditional Greek charm. It was the auspicious result of a fruitful merger between global hospitality titan Hyatt and Greece's leading hotel management group, Kokari Limited. This partnership's primary vision was to infuse a breath of fresh air into the definitive Athenian luxury hospitality scene by marrying Hyatt's world-renowned services and amenities with Kokari's deep-rooted understanding of Greece's rich culture and hospitality traditions.
Oh, and talk about making a grand entry! The hotel quickly gained favor among discerning international travelers seeking accommodation that marries comfort, luxury, and a sense of place. The Grand Hyatt Athens did a fantastic job blending a contemporary, minimalist design approach with Athens' profound historical essence. They took a step further by adorning the interiors with artwork from significant Greek artists, beautifully reflecting the extraordinary local artistic talent.

The Grand Hyatt in Athens offers a range of pricing that varies depending on the season, room selection, and available packages. Room rates typically start at around €200 per night for standard rooms and may rise up to a whopping €700 for a suite during high season. Now, the good news is that discounts and special offers are frequently available, especially during the non-peak period or when making early reservations.
Amenities & Facilities
Kicking off with the gem in their crown, their stunning rooftop pool comes highly anticipated. Picture this; dipping into refreshing water while devouring enchanting views of the city and the Acropolis. Sounds like a dream? Well, it’s reality here.
But the pampering doesn’t stop there. They’ve got a first-rate fitness center, stacked with top-notch gear, so you need not worry about missing your workout routine. Plus, the hotel features its own spa for times when you really need to unwind. Now, imagine closing your day with a drink from their bar under the star-studded Greek sky, yes, and that’s a possibility too! Not forgetting the free WI-FI and other basic but often overlooked facilities like laundry services which you’ll find super handy.
How to get to the Grand Hyatt in Athens
Landing at Athens International Airport, you might be wondering how you could possibly make it to your lavishly comfortable room at the Hyatt. Don’t fret, there are plenty of ways, but let's focus on two core options - public transport and taxi.
Let's start with public transport, which can be quite the adventure. Hustle your way through the bustling airport, out to the X95 bus. The journey is just a smidge under an hour and provides some beautiful sightseeing along the way. Once you hit Syntagma square, it's only a quick 15-minute journey in a taxi or a vibrant 30 minute walk to the Grand Hyatt.
If you're more of a deluxe traveler, a taxi ride straight from the airport, though more expensive, cuts out the middle journey. It's a 45-minute expedition roughly, and there you are, at the epitome of Greek luxury, otherwise known as the Grand Hyatt hotel.
What Customers Have To Say
The only drawback was the location. It’s about a 40 minute walk to the touristy part of town. Taxi service is available but somewhat of a challenging distance if you want to go out and come back several times a day. Also it’s next to a very busy highway which had a lot of traffic noice and some strip clubs (or something) across the street. Not a dealbreaker for us, but something to be aware of.
The only confusing part is indeed the elevators, second time I wanted to leave the elevator wouldn't arrive to go down although I was pressing the right buttons so I took the stairs after waiting for 5 minutes there was no point. When I was going up, there were so many people that it was overwhelming for everyone.
Second weird thing is the sequence of rooms for example in the same floor you have 401 room and 483 room so you have to walk very much with no signs and in the middle there are mirrors that make it indeed like a maze. We'll th carpet has a maze on it no wonder why 😅
Other than that it is a 5 star hotel for sure, definitely each 5 star hotel is different but I would not rate it as 4 star hotel. It's luxurious, huge and has all amenities.
