What’s the backstory
Once known as the largest hotel within the British Commonwealth, the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto has an intriguing backstory. The hotel's genesis dates back to the roaring twenties, subsequently opening its doors in June 1929. The hotel was originally a towering 28-story structure boasting more than a thousand rooms. The majestic chateau-style building, crowned with copper roofs, quickly established its dominance in the Toronto skyline.
This masterpiece of architecture was the brainchild of Ross and Macdonald, architects famed for their significant contributions to Canada’s urban landscapes in the early 20th century. It's true that in the beginning, it served just the privileged few. Yet, as the winds of time blew, the Fairmont Royal York adapted to numerous contemporary remodeling and refurbishing, standing tall and handsome, preserving its old-world charm while flaunting modern phoenix-like renewals.
Price Range
Room rates fluctuate throughout the year but, on average, expect to spend between $250 to $500 per night for a standard guest room. Executive suites and specialty suites, boasting enhanced amenities and additional space, understandably command higher prices. If those prices seem steep, remember that they include access to the fitness center, the pool, and the majestic common areas that add so much to the character of this grand dame of a hotel.
What's more, promotions and special packages are regularly on offer, which can significantly bring down your expenses. These packages often include attractive add-ons like free breakfast, spa credits or discounted parking. Also, being a member of the Fairmont President’s Club can fetch you some sweet deals and discounts.

What Customers Have To Say
The restaurant, lounge, and bar were amazing, and the lobby was the most opulent I've ever seen. Everyone needs to stay here at least once for the experience.
Really disappointing that they charge for Wi-Fi in today's day and age and there was bedside charging only on one side of the King bed.
They gave us an upgrade. Nothing is too much and the staff would do it with a beautiful smile. For sure I will stay here next time.❤️❤️
BTW it directly across from the train station. I'll be coming back soon. On the real tip, it is pricey but worth it. 😉 😉
I remember FLORENCE at the reception, she was very accommodating and helpful. I had a problem with my card, and she walk me all throughout the process.
