2. Akrotiri
Akrotiri, located on the Greek island of Santorini, is a site of historical importance. It is most famous as an archaeological excavation site, with discoveries dating back to the Minoan Bronze Age and remnants from the 16th century BC. The area was destroyed by a volcanic eruption and remained buried in lava for centuries until it was rediscovered in 1967.
The ruins have since been carefully and painstakingly excavated over the years, resulting in some incredible findings including numerous frescoes found undamaged which depict everyday life during this period of time.
The Akrotiri excavation site provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the island its ancient history and technology. One particularly interesting feature is its sewer drainage system, which shows how advanced technology was at that time.

3. Museum of Prehistoric Thera
The Museum of Prehistoric Thera is one of the most impressive and breathtaking experiences in the world. The eruption caused such an immense amount of destruction that Thera's original temples and buildings were entirely buried in ash – making them remarkably well-preserved to this day.

Perissa Beach is located on the southeast coast of Santorini. It’s a long stretch of black sand with crystal clear waters and amazing views. 6. Caldera Boat Tour
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Caldera boat tour for a few hours. This was an amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with the majestic beauty of Santorini. We sailed around the island for about two hours, taking in all of its grandeur from sea level. I couldn't believe my eyes as we passed by some of the most picturesque sites that this stunning island has to offer.
The highest point on the tour was a stop at Nea Kameni, an active volcano located in the middle of caldera waters. It was awe-inspiring to be able to swim in its warm thermal springs.
The best part however were the breathtaking views during sunset - something that words can't quite describe. All along our journey we saw many striking traditional villages and houses built right into rocks; they simply looked mesmerizing.
7. Nea Kameni
Nea Kameni is an uninhabited Greek island located in the center of the Aegean Sea. It is part of a group of islands known as the Santorini volcanic arc, which form the active southernmost member of the Hellenic Volcanic Arc. Nea Kameni first emerged from beneath the sea in 1550 BC and has since been subject to several eruptions that have shaped its landscape.
The most notable eruption was between 1707 and 1711 when significant activity created a caldera – a cauldron-like crater caused by magma chamber collapses – on the island’s surface.
