The catacombs consist of three levels and feature a mix of Greek and Egyptian architecture, with hieroglyphics carved into the walls.

Here you will find over 300 mummies, wooden sarcophagi, pottery vessels, and colorful frescoes housed within this sprawling complex. The site was discovered in 1900 after a donkey accidently uncovered an entrance shaft that led down to this mysterious underground world. 4. Aswan

Aswan is one of the more beautiful spots in Egypt to pay a visit, for tourists looking to explore the country’s ancient history. It is filled with incredible landmarks that will leave you in awe. From the historic Philae Temple to the Nubian Museum, Aswan offers plenty of things to discover when you’re in this area of Egypt: The High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk, Aswan Botanical Garden, Elephantine Island and Temple of Khnum, Kalabsha Temple, Agha Khan Mausoleum, Abu Simbel Temples to name a few.

Located on the banks of the Nile River, this quarry was used by many different pharaohs to quarry granite, from which they would build temples and obelisks dedicated to their gods.

The massive Unfinished Obelisk still sits in its original location today as it was left incomplete due to a crack in the granite that ran through it from top to bottom.

7. Giza

Giza is one of the most popular tourist locations in Egypt and has some of the most iconic sights in the world. Located just outside Cairo, Giza is home to The Great Pyramid , one of the Seven Wonders of The Ancient World. Known as Khufu’s Pyramid or Cheops' Pyramid. It is believed to have been built by Pharaoh Khufu around 2560 BC and stands at an impressive 450 feet high. You can climb up its ancient stones and get a birds-eye view over Giza’s desert landscape.

The Pyramid of Khafre, also located in the Giza Plateau, was built by the 4th Dynasty Pharaoh Khafre and is one of three colossal pyramids constructed in Ancient Egyptian architecture. Standing at 136 meters, this pyramid is the second largest and second tallest of the three Great Pyramids. It is believed to have been built around 2532 BC, making it nearly 4500 years old!

The pyramid was constructed using limestone blocks with an inner core filled with granite pillars. Visitors can explore inside the chambers and corridors that lead to tombs buried deep within it. Its steep sides are proof that advanced engineering techniques were used to create a structure so majestic even after centuries have passed since its construction.

The Great Sphinx has been an enduring symbol of Egypt's ancient civilization for centuries. It is believed to have been constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre sometime between 2558 and 2532 BCE, making it one of the oldest statues in the world. This limestone statue stands at an impressive 20 meters tall and 73 meters long.

Its mysterious half-man, half-lion face has attracted countless tourists from all corners of the globe since its discovery in 1817. 8. Al-Hassana Dome

The Al Hassana Dome , located at Abu Rawwash on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, about 8km from Giza pyramids, is an impressive structure that serves as a prime example of Mameluke architecture and which goes back to the Mamluk dynasty in 1250. It was built as an observatory for astronomical studies, and its unique design has made it a popular tourist attraction. The dome stands at an impressive height of 55 meters and is covered with colorful tiles that reflect light in different shades during the day.

Visitors to the Al Hassana Dome can enjoy spectacular views from its rooftop terrace, which offers sweeping panoramas over Cairo’s skyline. Inside you can explore its magnificent interior, featuring a grand staircase leading up to prayer rooms on each level as well as ornately decorated domes. The reserve area is one square kilometer, and the highest point of the Al Hasana Dome is 149 meter above sea level in its western desert. While the highest points from its eastern part raises 109 meters.

What sets this location apart is the excavational content whose components gather in the form of well-preserved cantons. It looks as if it were an open-air museum that shows full records of ancient life, and its environment and climate during the late cretaceous age, 100 million years ago.

9. Dahab

Dahab, located on the Gulf of Aqaba near the Red Sea in the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt is known for its incredibly beautiful Red Sea surroundings and laid-back atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life.
