10 Best Bars In Barcelona
Written by Joeri Van Overloop
Walking through the busy streets of Barcelona, with Gaudí’s astonishing architectural masterpieces looming above, I couldn't help but feel an undeniable sense of wonder. As I explored this mesmerizing Catalan cities bar scene, I stumbled upon countless bars that seemed to possess their own unique charm.
From hidden gems tucked away in narrow alleyways to rooftop terraces offering breathtaking views of the city, Barcelona is a haven for bar enthusiasts. Join me on a journey as we uncover the best bars in Barcelona, where one can sip on handcrafted cocktails while immersing themselves in the rich history and culture that permeate every corner.
1. Paradiso/Pastrami Bar
I have visited many bars in Barcelona, but none of them come close to the experience I had at the Paradiso Bar. This hidden gem is located in the El Born neighborhood of Barcelona and is one of the best cocktail bars in the world. In fact, it was named the best bar in the world in 2022 by the World's 50 Best Bars award.
What makes bar Paradiso so unique is the fact that it is hidden behind a pastrami shop. You have to walk through the shop and open a secret door to enter the bar. The atmosphere inside is cozy and intimate, with dim lighting and a speakeasy vibe. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly, and they make some of the best cocktails I have ever had.
One of the things I love about Paradiso is their extensive cocktail menu. They have a wide variety of cocktails, including dry martini, g&t, Mediterranean-inspired drinks, and classic cocktails with a twist. They also have an impressive selection of beer, wine, sangria and vermouth.
If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable drinking experience in Barcelona, I highly recommend checking out bar Paradiso. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy some delicious cocktails with friends or loved ones.

2. Two Schmucks
I recently visited Bar Two Schmucks, and I must say, it was an experience I won't forget anytime soon. Located in the historic El Raval neighborhood, this five-star dive bar is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique and memorable night out in Barcelona.
The bar has a punk vibe and irreverent charm that seeps out of every pore. The owners, Moe Aljaf and A.J. White, built the bar with their own four hands using recycled materials and sweat. The result is a biblical DIY job that has become one of the best bars in Barcelona's resurgent nightlife scene.
Two Schmucks offers a concise list of thoughtful mixed drinks, like their amazing gin and tonic, which is made with Mediterranean gin and garnished with fresh herbs. The cocktail menu is constantly changing, and the mixologists are more than happy to make a custom drink based on your preferences. They also serve beer or glass of wine, for those who prefer something different.
The bar attracts a diverse crowd, from young students who prefer a well-made cocktail to a mix of locals and tourists who love the punk vibe and characterful atmosphere. The view from the bar is also worth mentioning, as it overlooks the bustling streets of El Raval.
In my opinion, the Two Schmucks is one of the coolest bars that should be on every Barcelona bar guide. The owners' passion for good drinks, good vibes, and promoting cocktail culture worldwide is evident in every aspect of the bar.

3. Bar Marsella
Bar Marsella is a legendary 19th-century absinthe bar located in the El Raval district. Filled with locals, this bar has a rich history and has been frequented by famous personalities such as Picasso and Hemingway.
The interior of the bar has a vintage feel with dark walls and dim lighting, giving it a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The bar has a wide selection of reasonably priced drinks, but their absinthe is the star of the show. The bar serves absinthe in the traditional old-school way, with a sugar cube and water dripped over the absinthe spoon.
One unique feature of the Marsella is that smoking is allowed inside the bar. This is a rarity in Barcelona, as smoking indoors is banned in most establishments. The smoke adds to the ambiance of the bar and gives it a nostalgic feel.
Bar Marsella is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a unique and historic bar experience in Barcelona. Whether you're a fan of absinthe or just looking for a cosy place to have a drink in Barcelona, this place is definitely worth a visit.

As someone who has explored many bars in Barcelona, El Bosc De Les Fades is one of my top picks. This unique bar is located in the El Born area and is the place to be for anyone looking for a magical experience.
Upon entering, you'll find yourself in a fairy forest complete with lantern-lit trees, waterfalls, and magical springs. The log-shaped tables add to the enchanted atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a romantic date or a fun night out with friends.
The bar offers a wide variety of drinks, including cocktails, gin, beer, and wine. I highly recommend trying their Mediterranean-inspired cocktails, which are expertly crafted by the skilled bartenders. The prices are reasonable, and the view is priceless.
El Bosc De Les Fades is also located near the Museo de Cera de Barcelona, making it a great spot to visit after a day of exploring the city. The bar is open late, so you can enjoy a drink and unwind after a long day of sightseeing.

Dr. Stravinsky is the best place for a drink for anyone looking for a unique and memorable night out in the city.
The first thing that caught my eye upon entering Dr. Stravinsky was the amazing view of the Mediterranean Sea from the bar's terrace. It's the perfect spot to sip on a delicious cocktail while taking in the beautiful scenery of Barcelona.
Speaking of cocktails, Dr. Stravinsky has an impressive selection of craft cocktails and gin. The bar prides itself on using only the freshest ingredients and infusions, resulting in drinks that are as delicious as they are beautiful. I highly recommend trying the signature cocktail, which is made with gin, lemon, and a house-made infusion of Mediterranean herbs.
In addition to cocktails, Dr. Stravinsky also offers a great selection of craft beer and wine. The bar staff are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences and tastes.

6. Caribbean Club
Last year I paid a visit to the Caribbean Club, and I must say it is one of the best Barcelona bars in the city. Located in the El Born area, this bar has been around since the 1970s and is a top spot for cocktail enthusiasts.
The bar has a Caribbean vibe, with Cuban influences in its decor, music, and drinks. The owner, Juanjo Gonzalez Rubiera, who previously worked at the legendary Boadas bar, has transformed the Caribbean Club into a rum-fueled hideout in the heart of Barcelona.
The Caribbean Club is known for its excellent cocktails, especially their mojitos. They have an extensive selection of gins, and their wine and beer selection is also impressive. The bar's signature cocktail, the Caribbean Club, is a must-try. It's a refreshing mix of rum, pineapple, and coconut, perfect for a hot summer day.
The bar's intimate space makes it a great place to relax and enjoy a drink with friends or a date. The waiters are very friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. The Caribbean is a great spot to start or end your night out in Barcelona.

The Olímpic Bar is one of the best bars I have ever been to. The bar has a cozy and intimate atmosphere, with dim lighting and a relaxed vibe that makes it the perfect spot for a casual night out with friends or a romantic date.
The drinks at Bar Olímpic are fantastic, with a wide selection of cocktails, gin and tonics, and other spirits. The bartenders are skilled, and they take pride in creating unique and delicious drinks that are tailored to each customer's tastes. I highly recommend trying one of their signature cocktails, such as the Mediterranean Mule or the El Raval Sling.
In addition to the great drinks, the Olímpic also has a small but tasty food menu, with Mediterranean-inspired dishes like hummus, falafel, and grilled octopus. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous, making it a great spot for a pre-dinner snack or a late-night bite.

8. Sips
On one of my trips to Barcelona I bumped into the Sips Bar, and it's easy to see why it has been included in the World's 50 Best Bars list. Located in the trendy El Born neighborhood, Sips offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere perfect for a night out with friends or a date.
As soon as I walked in, I was struck by the beautiful decor and attention to detail. The bar has a Mediterranean vibe with blue and white tiles, wooden accents, and a stunning island bar in the center of the room. The bartenders are the stars of the show, and they put on quite a performance as they mix and shake up their signature cocktails.
Speaking of cocktails, Sips has an impressive menu of creative and delicious concoctions. I highly recommend trying their gin and tonic, which is made with premium gin and served in a balloon glass with fresh herbs and spices. They also have a great selection of Spanish wines and other spirits, so there's something for every clientele.
One thing to note is that bar Sips is not the most budget-friendly option in Barcelona. Prices are on the higher side, but I believe it's worth it for the quality of drinks and experience. If you're looking for a more affordable option, there are plenty of other great bars in the area.
