What’s the backstory of the The Yeatman Hotel
Born from a deep-rooted passion for Portugal's exquisite wines, The Yeatman hotel has established itself as a beacon of luxury and elegance in the heart of Porto since its inception in 2010. The hotel takes its name from the notable Yeatman family of Britain, whose profound involvement in the port wine trade for over three centuries paved the way for this splendid establishment. Their vast knowledge in viniculture and sheer love for one of Portugal's proudest traditions are intensely reflected in every corner of this magnificent hotel.
Giving life to the Yeatman's vision, is none other than the contemporary genius of Portuguese architect - Ricardo Bofill. His immaculate design harmoniously blends the Yeatman's old-world charm with modern grandeur. As an ode to the hotel's wine-themed ethos, Bofill masterfully incorporated subtle elements reminiscent of wine cellars throughout the property, such as barrel-shaped rooms and massive corkscrew sculptures. Meticulously planned and exquisitely executed, it's his architectural brilliance that breathes an irresistible sense of charm into The Yeatman, making it a must-visit destination for luxury-seeking globetrotters.
Price Range
Prepare yourself for a luxury retreat as accommodation at The Yeatman doesn't come cheap, with a price range starting from around €200 per night for the most modest 'classic' room, and rocketing up to €8000 for the Bacchus Suite.
While the cost may indeed make you take a sharp intake of breath, don't hastily decide to look elsewhere. The Yeatman is held in such high regard for valid reasons, and the kind of ambiance, elegance, opulence, and services it offers are worth digging a bit deeper into your pockets. There's an old saying that "you get what you pay for", and this truly applies when you're considering accommodations at The Yeatman. The hotel is very luxurious, I really like the welcome wine provided by the hotel 🍷
The gluten free food was so good I questioned it a couple of times as it tasted like what I recall some of the foods we use to be able to ear.
Yeatman Gastronomic - Michelin Star Dining
A true “experience” (over 3 hours) starting with appetizers in the lounge area, progressing to the main dining room. Both taste and sight are excellent. They have a non-alcoholic pairing, in addition to the usual wine pairing option, that is actually good. The service is extraordinary – attentive without being overbearing
