What Can We Help You With?
How can I contact Travel Media about a shop order?
If you have a question about a Shop order, please contact our Shop team here. Please provide as much information as possible including your order number. Or, you can reply to the order confirmation email that we sent you when you placed your order. The team will get back to you as soon as possible.
How do I find my order?
After your order is placed, you will be directed to a download page and you will also receive an email immediately with your order number and details of your purchase. You will also receive a second email that will include a download button for any eBook purchase you have made. Can't find it? Make sure you check your spam/junk folder as the security settings on your computer may have sent it there.
How do I place an online order?
We’ve made our online shop simple to use, but here’s a quick step-by-step guide to get you started.
- Go to the Shop homepage.
- Search for the book you would like to purchase.
- Click on the learn more button to get all the information about the book or click directly on the buy now button to take you to the checkout page.
- Now enter your contact and credit card details and click Pay Now.
What Payment types do we accept?
We accept payment via Stripe with the following credit cards: Amex, Diners Club, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.
In some regions, we may accept Apple Pay, G Pay, or Shop Pay.
Sorry, we do not accept personal checks, cashier's cheques, money orders or direct deposits.
We accept the following payment methods:
What tax do I pay?
If your government requires us to do so, we will add applicable sales tax to your purchase price. The tax might be called Sales Tax, GST or VAT, depending on your country. Tax will be calculated at checkout. (Or it will be left off in cases where ebooks are exempt from tax.)
As we need to comply with the tax systems of multiple countries it can get a bit complicated, but we have tried to display exactly what tax you have to pay in the simplest and most transparent fashion.
Simply put, if sales tax is applicable, it will be clearly shown at checkout. If you aren't sure, contact us and we'll do our best to help you. Being aware of your local sales tax legislation is the responsibility of the consumer and we are unable to refund any amount charged at the point of delivery.
Please be aware that Travel Media does not receive any amount of these additional taxes.
What if I am purchasing for my company and we want to reclaim our tax?
Once the transaction has taken place we’ll send you a tax invoice. This can be used by a company to have the tax refunded. For our part, regardless of whether you’re an individual or an organization, you’ll need to pay the price of your purchase including any taxes. If you’re an exempt individual or organization, you can use our tax invoice to claim back the tax from your taxing authority.
What's a CVC code & how do I find it?
The Card Verification Code (also known as CVC or CVV) is a number that appears on your credit card that lets us verify that the person placing the order has direct access to the credit card being used.
On Visa & MasterCard: The last three numbers appear on the signature panel on the back of the card.
On American Express: The four-digit number that appears in the top right corner on the front of the card.
What is the returns policy?
In the Travel Media Online Shop, we make every effort to provide information about our eBooks for you to review before you make your purchase - this includes file size specifications, chapter descriptions, and more for each product. It's your responsibility to make sure that you are buying the right content, and if you are unsure we recommend that you contact us with any questions you may have before you proceed.
Once you have purchased digital content it is considered delivered and all sales are final - just like a book arriving in your letterbox - and therefore the policies detailed above will also apply.
When you buy an eBook, you are buying that edition only and are not entitled to digital copies of subsequent editions when they are released. If you want the more recent edition, you will need to buy that separately.
When buying eBooks, it's important to be aware content changes from edition to edition, so check the latest publishing date to determine if you are making the right choice.
What are eBooks?
eBooks are digital versions of printed travel books - they are perfect for inspiration, planning your trip, and making decisions when on the road.
We deliver our ebooks in PDF format. These are the exact pages from books saved in an electronic Adobe PDF file, and they are viewable with any PDF reader. PDF readers are standard software, and we recommend the free Adobe Reader software and app. Download the latest Adobe Reader for free from Adobe’s official website here. For Apple devices we also recommend the Books app – get it here.
What devices can I use them on?
Use them for research on your computer, or take them on the road using your laptop, e-reader, smartphone (iPhone or Android), or tablet – this includes iPads, Galaxy, Nook, Kobo, Kindle, Sony eReader, and more. If you’re not sure, check the specifications of your gadget before purchasing.
In all cases, we recommend that you have the latest software installed for the best experience possible.
How to download your files?
Once your payment is successfully processed, you will see an order confirmation screen that includes links to download your purchases straight away. Please download your eBook files and save them within 180 days of purchase.
We recommend you download your eBooks at the time of purchase and save them locally on your desktop or device.
You will also receive an order confirmation email with a link to your download page. Can't find your email? Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and similar POP email accounts often have an automatic spam filter that hides emails sent from any retail website (not specifically ours). Please check your Spam or Junk folder or even deleted items, as you might find your confirmation emails here.
Please note that some eBooks may be up to 100+MB in size, so if you don't have a fast internet connection you might need to have some patience.
Can I send my eBooks to a few of my friends?
No. Aside from the fact that it is not in keeping with Travel Media’s ethos, it’s also illegal.
Our eBooks are protected by copyright, making the content of them protected by law. Sending the files to family, friends, and strangers is against the law, as is posting a link to your blog, Facebook, or other social networking page. As we've said, you can download each purchased eBook and have it on your personal computer or handheld device, so please don't send it to your Dad, your Gran and your sister-in-law's best mate.
If you love that we offer this kind of thing and enjoy saving a bit of money (and room in your backpack), please support us and don't abuse the system. Travel Media owns all rights to its digital content and no part of these products may be copied stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any form by any means, electronic, mechanical, recording, or otherwise (except as permitted here), without the written permission from Travel Media.
What advantages do eBooks have over traditional print books?
eBook technology enables publishers to include content and functionality that is not possible in a print book. This may include the ability for the user to:
- Access video and audio
- Increase the size of images and fonts
- Type in keywords to search a publication, or look up in the dictionary
- Add comments and notes to a page
- Jump from page to page via links within the content
- Follow links to external websites
- eBook readers are also compact, light, and can store thousands of books. You can also easily purchase titles online or directly via the eBook reader.
What makes Travel Media books different?
Our travel books cater to budget travelers and focus on off-the-beaten-path and local destinations other guidebooks don’t include. Unlike other mainstream travel books, Travel Media doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. We’re here for the people who want to travel without breaking the bank. All of the information included in our books is from firsthand experience, not internet research.
What’s the difference between our books and the information on the Travel Media website?
While our website has a lot of great information, it doesn’t offer specific accommodation, restaurant or bar recommendations; neighborhood information; historical information aimed at budget travelers; or important information like customs, laws, visas, and detailed transportation and emergency information. You know, all the things you turn to a travel book for.
How will these books save me money?
Travel Media books are written for budget travelers by budget travelers. Our books include cheaper options for food, activities, and accommodation, as well as tips to save money while still having a high-quality travel experience.
Are the books on the Travel Media shop available in print?
No, our books are only available as an ebook. You’ll be able to save your books to your phone, Kindle, iPad, or computer so you can access it on the road. It will work on any device and can be used on as many as you want as long as they are not shared.
Are there any special coupons inside your travel books?
Unfortunately, there are not. However, there are plenty of tips included to help you save money while you travel.
What currency are the ebooks priced in?
All our ebooks are priced in US dollars.
Why don't you supply a telephone number for support? Rather than submit an email to support, why can't I call you?
Travel Media has hundreds of customers a day from almost every country in the world. Although thankfully support is only required by the smallest fraction of our users, the support issues cover a wide range of subjects from sales and tax, browser issues, file issues, and device support for hundreds of different ebook readers.
As much as we would like to, it is impossible for us to supply phone support 24/7 that could cover all the needed expertise in all these areas. Sending an email to support is the most efficient way for us to answer your queries, which ensures you receive the help you require within a reasonable time frame. We aim to answer all support queries within 24 hours from Monday to Friday.
