Smoking at Gran Canaria Airport

Gran Canaria, following much of Europe, has implemented laws banning smoking in enclosed public areas. The 2006 regulation was strengthened in 2011 and now includes LPA Gran Canaria Airport. Therefore, smokers are limited to designated zones or the areas outside the terminal building. For those needing a smoke break before a long flight, a large smoking terrace is available.

Where to Find the Smoking Terrace at LPA Gran Canaria

The smoking terrace offers a great view of the runway. To find it, go through security and exit the Duty-Free shop. Turn left and head toward the C12 departure gate. Just past the sign, on your left, you'll see a set of stairs. Go up to the terrace above, and the smoking area is on the left, with a view of the runway.

Lost Luggage at Gran Canaria Airport

Imagine you're at the luggage carousel; people collect their bags one by one until you're left standing alone, and the conveyor belt comes to a halt. Your luggage is missing! What should you do?

Steps to Take:

1. Report Immediately: Head to your airline’s lost luggage desk or their office at Gran Canaria Airport as soon as you realize your luggage is missing. Report the issue before leaving the airport.

2. Locate Your Luggage: Airline staff can often track your luggage using their computer system, which indicates its current location. They can arrange for your luggage to be delivered to you. If it hasn’t arrived at Gran Canaria Airport, they’ll inform you on which flight it will come. Provide your accommodation or hotel address to ensure it gets delivered to you once it arrives.

3. If Luggage is Untraceable: In rare instances where your luggage can't be found in their system, it might have lost its barcode label or gotten misrouted on the conveyor system.

Left on the Carousel:

At times, luggage may be left on the carousel at Gran Canaria Airport. If this happens, airport staff will likely pick it up and register it at the airport's lost property office.
